2013 is Here Already?

Wow. I can’t believe 2013 is already speeding by. The winter time always seems to bog me down with holiday celebrations and increased demands at work, and this year has especially been rough. However, all that is behind me, and I am now looking forward to writing my ass off.

First off, I’m happy to announce “Serial Peeper”, a short story I wrote in July 2012, will finally see print in the Horror-tica anthology from Cruentus Libri Press. All I know at this time is the story has been accepted for publication. I’m still waiting for all the details, which I will happily share once I have them.

Second, I’m working on a short story called “Last Call” which is strictly an erotic piece, no horror at all this time, not even anything a bit creepy. Anytime I’m dreaming up story lines to get inspired, I try sticking to things I know I like, or that I do best. I did that for Caught White-Handed, and Terminal Affair, so I decided to do it again with this story. “Last Call” is my tribute to Tiki bars and pin-up girl fashion, with a bit of foot fetish thrown in. I’m not really into feet, but one of my friends Caroline Pierce shares a bit of that sole persuasion, so I turned to tales from her foot fetish parties for inspiration. I’m looking to have it polished  for submissions by the end of February.

After I get that story out of the way I’m going to hop back into Old Mill Road. It’s been a while since I wrote anything on on this one, but since the outline is complete I always seem to take it for granted that the story is complete in the back of my head. Then I have to remind myself that the book will never see the light of day unless I actually finish writing it. I plan to wrap the first draft by this summer and hopefully get the second draft polished this fall.

In-between now and then I have lots of other goals to keep me busy, including getting a jump start on my online serial The Girl Alone. I’ve already outlined the complete story arc, and I’m itching to start writing it soon. The truth be told, “Last Call” is a bit of a prequel to this larger story, just because I wanted to explore a few ideas. The Girl Alone will be packed full of naughty romps, but my lips are sealed on the actual plot. I’m hoping at least a few people will tune in online to see how this one unfolds.

Sometime after Old Mill Road and The Girl Alone, I’ll start cranking out the Proteus Bell series. I figured working on The Girl Alone would help me explore how to serialize a simple plot before I moved onto more ambitious multi-layered, multi-story plots.

Stay tuned.

  1. Recently, I was reading about web serials which I didn’t know existed online before I’d read about them. (Yeah, maybe I’m behind on this interwebs thing) It was during the time I was doing some brainstorming about possible blog topics. Everything I considered seemed like it had been done to death except that.

I’m trying to come up with a story idea now, and decide whether I should write and publish in installments or write the whole thing and then start posting on my blog a bit every week. That whole long explanation was to get to this point; I’ll be watching closely to see how your web serial goes! For the story, of course, but also for any tips and tricks that will help me.

Good luck with all those projects. Seems like you’ll have a full year.
