On Episode 6 of Gathering Darkness, I discussed the Friday the 13th Franchise, its impact on horror and pop culture, and I showed off a few of my personal pieces of Jason Voorhees merch.
In Episode 5 of Gathering Darkness, I discussed my influences from music, especially the recent trend in synthwave music. I discussed my love for the film Turbo Kid and how movies like it, along with synthwave, inspired me to create my short film Planchette.
I hared a side by side comparison of Planchette before and after adding the “synthwave” aesthetic. I also talked about my love of monster-themed beers, while happening to drink a Rogue Ales Batsquatch. I also discussed “Target Bitches” and how they always scoop up all the stuff I want…and I unboxed a Madame Leota Haunted Mansion figure from Funko.
For Episode 4 of Gathering Darkness, I talked about my attempts to make a pumpkin diorama, the origins of my novel Shady Palms, and my quest to find a set of Cereal Monster drinking glasses. I rounded out the episode by demonstrating how you can maximize a photoshoot by shooting with different lighting setups at the same time and showed some examples from a nude werewolf photo shoot.
For Episode 3 of Gathering Darkness, I talked about my love of BooBerry Cereal, my favorite horror podcast Forever Midnight, and I talked about some Haunted Mansion Figures. The discussion was rounded out with a discussion about the movie Terrifier and the iconic horror character Art the Clown
In the second episode of Gathering Darkness, I talked about my appreciation for the movie Frankenstein’s Army, I showed off some of my Halloween decor purchases for the 2020 season, and I discussed my photoshoot with a nude model in an old cemetery.
A few technical issues plagued this episode. Just before going live, one of my light’s power adapters went bad, and while discussing the photoshoot my sound was off and the picture-in-picture technique covered some of my images – but I’ve learned from my mistakes since then. Half of the challenge is doing this one-person show live!
On the inaugural episode of Gathering Darkness I talked about why I created the show, where I think the show is going. I also showed off some of the cool decorations I bought from Vintage Spooky Company, although during the broadcast I was so nervous I kept saying Spooky Vintage (fuck me!).
